About Peptac Liquid

What is Peptac Liquid?

Peptac liquid is used to alleviate symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux, such as heartburn, indigestion, esophageal discomfort, and stomach acidity.

What is gastroesophageal reflux?

Gastroesophageal reflux (GER) is when stomach contents, including acid, flow back into the oesophagus, causing heartburn and discomfort. Normally, a muscle called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) keeps this from happening, but if it doesn't close properly or opens too often, reflux occurs. Common triggers include certain foods, overeating, obesity, pregnancy, and smoking.

Symptoms of GER include a burning sensation in the chest, regurgitation of sour or bitter-tasting acid, chest pain, difficulty swallowing, and chronic cough. Diagnosis is often based on these symptoms, but doctors might use tests like endoscopy or pH monitoring if needed. Treatments focus on lifestyle changes like eating smaller meals, avoiding trigger foods, losing weight, and quitting smoking, along with medications to reduce acid.

Managing GER is important to prevent complications like esophagitis or more serious conditions like Barrett’s oesophagus and esophageal cancer. Simple changes in diet and lifestyle, along with proper medication, can help control the symptoms and improve quality of life. Regular check-ups with a healthcare provider are essential for ongoing management.
