Cryotag - Important Information

What is Cryotag?

Cryotag uses cryotherapy freezing technology, clinically proven to remove skin tags at home. Just 1 application of Cryotag to the skin tags stalk, using the precision applicator, can result in the total removal of the skin tag within just 2 weeks.

Cryotherapy is exactly the same technology used by doctors and dermatologists but Cryotag has been designed to make applications easy, safe and effective to use at home. Cryotag can be used by adults over the age of 18 years to treat skin tags on the neck, chest, underarms, back or groin.

What is a skin tag?

Skin tags are usually small, harmless growths that hang off the skin. Most typically occurring in the skin folds of the neck, armpits or groin because they are formed as a result of the skin rubbing together. They are usually skin coloured, appear to have a flat, smooth texture and are made up of college fibres and blood vessels that are surrounded by a layer of skin.

Skin tags can often be mistaken for warts so it is advisable to speak to a doctor or pharmacist before treating your skin growth if you are unsure of the cause.

How does Cryotag work?

Cryotag uses cryotherapy freezing technology to freeze and destroy the tissue in the core of the skin tag causing the skin tag to fall off due to a lack of blood flow to the area.

Because Cryotag relies upon destroying the tissue in the core of the skin tag before it falls off it can take up to 2 weeks for this to happen. In some cases, people, who have larger, more stubborn skin tags, may need to apply Cryotag several times before their skin tags can be removed.

Alternatives to Cryotag

Cryotag is one of the most effective home removal technologies used to tackle unsightly skin tags and is exactly the same method that is used by doctors and dermatologists. If, however, your skin tag is smaller than 2 mm or larger than 6 mm you should speak to a doctor about how best to remove it.

Is Cryotag right for me?

Cryotag is suitable for use by adults over the age of 18 years for the home-removal of skin tags. You should only use Cryotag if your skin tag fits all 4 of the following criteria, if you are unsure speak to a doctor or pharmacist for advice.

  • It MUST be located on 1 of the following areas of your body
    • Neck
    • Chest
    • Underarm
    • Back
    • Groin
  • It MUST be a similar colour to the surrounding skin
  • It MUST be soft & flexible
    • You should be able to move the skin tag back and forth with your finger, easily.
    • It must also be raised above your surrounding skin on a small stalk or stem of skin.
  • It MUST be between 2 - 6 mm

How to use Cryotag

Make sure to use Cryotag exactly as directed in the Patient Information Leaflet which is contained within the product packaging. Always use aerosols in a well-ventilated room to avoid inhalation of the contents.

  1. Attach 1 of the 12 single-use precision-tip applicators by firmly twisting it into the opening on the bottom of the cap.
  2. Place the canister on a table or other hard surface. Insert the precision-tip applicator with the cap into the canisters shield. Keeping the canister upright, press the cap all the way down for 3 seconds. You will hear a hissing sound.
  3. Remove the precision-tip applicator and the cap from the shield, and hold with the tip facing down. Wait 15 seconds to allow the applicator tip to reach the correct temperature.
  4. Grasp the skin tag with the tweezers provided and gently pull it away from the base. Then apply the precision-tip applicator to the stalk of the skin tag for 40 seconds, continuously.

Skin tags can take up to 2 weeks to fall off with just 1 application. If after 2 weeks your skin tag cannot be removed you can repeat the application process for up to 4 treatment cycles. If after 4, 2-week, cycles your skin tag has still not fallen off you should speak to a doctor for advice.

Cryotag ingredients

Each canister of Cryotag contains: Dimethyl ether, isobutane, propane, hydrocarbon.

Cryotag side effects

  • It is normal for people to experience burning, tingling or aching sensation during the application of Cryotag. This should self-resolve shortly after the application.
  • Because Cryotag destroys the tissue through freezing some people may develop small, possibly blood-filled blisters after a few days.
  • Freezing can also cause discolouration to the skin resulting in lightening of darker skin and darkening of lighter skin.

If you are worried about any side effects you should speak to a doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Cryotag warnings

Before using Cryotag please ensure you have read the Patient Information Leaflet contained within the product packaging thoroughly.

Do not use Cryotag if any of the following apply to you:

  • You are diabetic, have bad circulation, or have a blood condition that is affected by extreme heat or cold or are at risk of bleeding after treatment.
  • Your skin growth is not a skin tag. Cryotag is not suitable for use on moles or birthmarks.
  • If your skin tag is anywhere on the body other than your neck, chest, armpit, back or groin.
  • If your skin is irritated or infected and is red, swollen or itchy.
  • To treat more than 1 skin tag on any one area of the body at one time. Applications should be completed 2 weeks apart.

Cryotag is supplied in a pressurised, aerosol container that can burst if heated, which is extremely dangerous. Protect the can from extreme heat sources, including sunlight.

Do not use Cryotag if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are worried about skin tags at this time you should speak to a doctor or pharmacist for advice.
